We know dealing with the loss of a loved one is distressing enough. That’s why we are here to give you a helping hand when you need it most.
We are committed to helping those facing bereavement with the daunting task of arranging a funeral for a loved one.
We know from our own experiences how difficult it can be to make big decisions about funeral arrangements. You’re often under pressure to decide quickly, and then there’s the cost.
We know that when faced with the unenviable task of organising a funeral for a loved one, your priority is to ensure they receive the best possible send-off, whatever your budget.
Yet it is easy to be confused by the array of providers, who offer wildly inconsistent price lists. Beyond choosing the location of the funeral and a provider you trust, many people are unaware of the huge range of prices, services and product options available.
That’s where our unique service comes in. We set up About the Funeral because our professional and personal experiences have taught us that to make the best choices for you and your loved one, you need to know the right questions to ask.
Our founder Kim Bird knows the funeral industry inside out, having worked as a funeral arranger for one of the UK’s biggest funeral service providers and as a bereavement support volunteer.
Kim set up About the Funeral with one clear aim - to provide a simple and supportive service that cuts through the maze of funeral providers and confusing price lists. Her professional experience showed her there was a lack of clear, impartial information to help the bereaved choose the right funeral provider.
Understandably, most people unquestioningly accept the first services and prices presented to them. But we believe there has to be a different way, and that’s why About the Funeral exists – to provide you with unbiased information at the click of a button. Why? Because we believe everyone needs guidance and support to help them make an informed decision about funeral arrangements.
We also want to support you beyond the funeral.
Our Support & Guides section includes links to bereavement support organisations, and our free Day by Day magazine is full of articles offering consolation and practical advice written by others whose wisdom and professional experience may be of value and show you that you are not alone.
